In its recent job outlook report, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services found that although the overall state economy is expected to grow slower than the national average, the education and health sector of the economy will continue to grow by 20 percent in the decade leading up to 2022. Closely related to this sector is the medical billing and coding profession, which will grow by as high as 30 percent over the same period.
As the number of positions in the medical billing and coding field increase, so will their associated salaries. The industry’s dramatic rise is due to several factors such as the increasing number of insured persons in the state as well as the statistic that the number of residents aged 55 years and older is projected to grow by 30 percent by the year 2020.
